Take the scenic train to the starting lines to cheer on your friends and loved ones.
On Sunday May 17th, an extra-special journey of the scenic Reading and Northern Railroad will transport marathon and 8-mile runners and spectators from the historic train station in Jim Thorpe to the starting line of the marathon in White Haven.
After watching the start of the marathon, spectators will re-board the train, stop on a bridge overlooking the trail at mile 3, and wait to cheer for their friends and loved ones as they run toward them and pass underneath.
After the last runner passes, the train will then take our 8-Mile runners down the trail to their starting point at Old Penn Haven before returning spectators to the finish area in Jim Thorpe. While they wait for their runner to finish, spectators can enjoy the FOOD, FUN, MUSIC, and VENDORS of the Jim Thorpe Birthday Celebration taking place adjacent to the train station!
The train will leave Jim Thorpe with all runners and spectators promptly at 6:30 am, and should be back to the finish line of the marathon by 10:00 am.
Tickets for all passengers are $25. (Unfortunately, due to Railroad policy, there are no discounted children's tickets). There will be restrooms and water on the train.
